Urban expansion

I will talk about something that has been the most studied issue on this semester, it was important for Social Geography with the professor Lukas and Sectoral Economic Geography with the professor Leonardo Muñoz. Approaches and ways to talk about urbanization or urban expansion are quite different for both subjects I would say that they talk mainly about cultural and economic factors.

With these subjects till now I have learnt that cultural and economic factors are linked, for example: today people don’t feel any security even where they live, also they don’t have where to live. This is a consequence of Pinochet dictatorship that implemented a neoliberal model that left our country bases alone, privatizing health, education, eliminating help for getting living places, reforming public pensions, and many other things that are aspects of life that are state’s responsibility, it is a fact that state should take care of these, but it went to the private sector. They lost their reassurances and got a feeling of vulnerability that forced to go to the hands of the property sellers, building homes sectors with the intention of getting more utility, generating segregation between high wealth people and low wealth people because of their capacity of paying. It got worst because of state’s social living places, they used the same logic building where they could get cheaper soil.

Also, this urban expansion has affected Mapuche communities on diverse scales and that’s why I selected these ideas for my works this semester, I guided them between them.

There is nothing that I don’t like of these ideas, the only thing is that there are many books that have not been traduced from english or german to spanish.

Thanks!

Combi!!

Hi my dear readers, today i would like to share my desire to own the famous van made my Volkswagen who was knew in all south America as “Combi”, there is to many reasons because I want this van so bad, the one I consider most important is because I love to travel and all the things that travel means, I love to discover new places, and of course meet and share with people of other cultures and learn his traditions, the most valuable feature that I will take advantage of is all the space that the “Combi” have, I have a lot of ideas for what can I do, for example I can use the van as storage, as stand to sell handmade things, at last but not least, to carrying friends to party or go to camp in the differents places I’m going to visit.

Charlie Dog

Hi Friends!!! Today I will talk about of my favorite restaurant, it’s called “Charlie Dog”, and Charlie dog be located at front of Law school of the University of Chile, it’s on Bellavista. This restaurant it’s a restaurant of fast food, but not anything fast food, here to be gigantic hog dogs! And it has a vegetarian option with soya meat, a meat eating version with options of turkey, pig, cow or chicken meat. Later it´s time to the aggregates and this is the part I am love in this restaurant, because it has a many options, in my case I love sauce of mushroom, olives, chives, corn with mayonnaise, tomato, avocado, “chancho en piedra” (tomato, pepper, onion, coriander, oil, garlic, parsley) and much more aggregates for my hot dog.
Charli Dog has inside there’s approximate six tables, and a little bathroom, the owners are Colombian people and they has very nice for ted to client.

For everything I mentioned I love Charlie dog, for the variety, of the meats and the diversity of aggregates, the most beautiful thing of this place is that it accepts Junaeb card, and thanks to that I don’t spend my money!

Concerts, I love concerts!

Hi!! I would be talk about of the concerts, yes! Many concerts, in my case I can not choose which was the best concert in my life jajajajaja I still remember which was my first concert… “Urban tour Festival” when I was nine years old, in this opportunity I went with my father.
Later when I was sixteen years old in 2011, went to concert to Iron Maiden in the Nacional Stadium with my friend Marian, and also in this concert we saw to Exodus!!! In the same year I saw to Slayer in the Movistar Arena, Red Hot Chili Peppers in the Monumental Stadium and I saw for first time a live to Pearl Jam!!! Pearl Jam is my favourite band, is the best bad ever!!
The next year (2012) I went to see to Roger Waters with my mother, this is the best concert that I went! The scenography, the airplane, the puppets of the teacher, the big pig, the wall, the sename kids and the same Roger Waters! Everything it was amazing!!! My mom not stopped singing jajaja The Wall is a best disco of fusion, experimental or psychedelic music
Also I went to concerts of Black Sabbath with Megadeth and of Alice in Chains, in both concerts I was in gallery and it was the best option, because in court the people were very crazy. And in this year I went to the Santiago Gets Louder, a rock and metal festival in cerrillos, it was amazing
I love music, but the feeling of being in a concert is bigger!

Fail Field Trip

HI! In this opportunity I will talk about a field trip! During the career we go every year to the field trip, in the different courses.
For example the last year, we went a field trip in the “Contemporary Geographical Problems” and we visited the Region del Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, and yours localities how San Francisco de Mostazal, Codegua, Diñihue and the spider junction.

I remember that in this opportunity the teachers (Rodrigo Moreno and Pablo Sarricolea) showed us, a variability of maps, geological charts, gave us GPS and walkie talkies. In the beginning the field trip looked very interesting, all of us shared the food in the bus and in the stop for lunch. But after hours and hours in the bus, with small stops, I don’t like so much the field trip, because the journey being more long that the stops for learn about the place. And for to be the first field trip in the career was quite bad jajaja, because we stay in the bus ten hours of twelve total during.
A one good thing, is that during all lot of year we had another field trip in “Geology” whit the professor Rodrigo Rauld. And this field trip was the opposite. Because the places we visited was very different, and we slept in a school, for continue the journey. And more things secrets jajaja

Bye!

My Favourite Geography Subject.

HI! Until now the course more like me is General Economic Geographic, this course teaching us to have a global vision about of de economic and how this affect the people inside out , is a course of third semester and it imparts the professor Beatriz Bustos.
I like this course because class to class reading different types of texts, more of them about economic postulates, other of economic analysis one place. And thanks to that I can understand the social movements not only in Chile, also in another parts of the world.
Other course I like me so much in Geology, in this course we learn different physical aspects of the earth in general.  Is a course of second semester and it imparts the professor Rodrigo Rauld, he is Geologist.
In this class professor teaching us, very much process that’s occurs daily in the earth, also your form of teaching is very didactic, whit presentations and pictures. It should be noted also that in the course we had a trip of two days, when we can appreciated landforms, processes and agents that influence how the territory is formed.

I know, I know this courses are not very similar, but I think are very practical when both understand your environment human and physical way, because so much times the men join in the earth looking for their economic benefit, and not dimensioned the damage it does to earth and also to us.

The Best Walk Ever

When I was 18 years old, I has the best walk ever throughout of my life!!!!  Finally I know the ruins of MACHU PICCHU, I think that day was the day more walk, I day tired this day, but the same time very very happy. I waited this day for ten years, when I was a I child I see a few photographs of my father in a travel with his best friend tour in Perú, and is in this moment, precisely in this moment the only I wanted to do was to travel to Perú.

Is for that when I was the top of the Inca Empire I cried, yes I cried, this place was something magical. Machu Picchu is one the places more beautiful in the world, is the type of travel I can do one thousand times, without ask nothing.

In this travel I recognized places that many times only see in the TV, in programs of the nature, and in this moment I saw impossible see in the real life.

I enjoyed so much because the Peruvian is a person so happy, and very funny, your culture is full of traditions with a history very respected for the people in Perú, they love to be Peruvian, and that unfortunately not seen in Chile.

Thanks!

My Ideal Job.

Hi, in this opportunity I will tell you which would my ideal job!!! I start tell you about of many jobs I´ve had, as usual in summer vacations. My first job was at 14 years old in Chiloé, in a travel agency. Then I worked as a sales woman in Levi´s clothing stores (I hated this job with my heart!!!!). and finally my  last job was  as selling Natura products, I love this job because I was landlady of my time.
Is for this, i would like work as a Geographer, but no any Geographer… a Geographer in post of the society, I would like the processes  of gentrification, and the why occur this invasions to nature. And for this I need know more cultures, more thoughts, not just what they want us to show, the means and formal education, yes its true, I need the formal education, but is not only in life.
For this job I need have very qualities, I need patience for not fall into other interests or in my owns interests, individualism not go to me.  I need good comprehension for read more books and for understand the other cultures or locations, for interpreting the territory and to translate it into projects. I need be human, more human, for change this chaos.
I think I would be good for this job, because I don’t understand the “I could do” but “I did not do it”, help to another people is gratifying.

Many famous people are famed for helping others, but I don’t know one person more trained in this meaning that my grandfather, he is my inspiration.

Starry Night of Art

Hello! I have written on many topics, it's moment for talk about art!
I'll start for telling you that it has accompanied me in all my life because my mother is a muralist  and painter in general and my father does contemporary oil paintings on canvas. That's how I had a refference of painters, sculptors and writters immersed in the art world.
Of many paintings that I have seen, the one that caught all my attention in some kind of magic-way getting trapped watching it is "Starry Night" from Vincent van Gogh. I like it so much that for one moment I thought that I could replicate it in my room, I dont know if I like the colors, because the technique that Van Gogh uses, But when I see it I feel tranquility. It's strange because some people think that tranquility wasn't one of Van Gogh mind states.

Van Gogh was son of a protestant pastor, I have pastors too in my family; but I think we don't have a protestant profile, his paints express different kind of  feelings showing that he had a wide gamut of them. Some express melancoly, break, happiness, some of them remorse, others desesperation. But I feel that he didn't paint one with a protestant vision of life.
Those are some of the reasons why I like Van Gogh's art despite that he never got to be known, selling only one painting in all his life. It's ironic that his paintings never got selled coming of him and now they are selled for millions after that who knows where they had been all this time.

The Politics of Football

For me personally, this cup was not pleasant, at least I thought so at first. Not because I'm not a fan of football, but because of the political connotation it took. I say this mainly because of the national context of radicalization of social movements, student, the health system, mining, subcontract, discussions about AFP, the binomial system and no less critical, the use of force special against these movements.
I feel this Copa America served to not display openly everything that is happening in the country, it bothered me that all the media were plagued with gossip, images, commentary and historical reviews of Chilean football, making it look like a circus. It can not be possible that the car crash of Arturo Vidal had been in the news about a week, and the people that organized protests in that same week were mentioned like it was something less important. Likewise I do not deny that I liked the fact that people despite being tired from his work they could rejoice in the victory of the team. It is here at this point that I began to see the Copa America with different eyes, not so critical or rejective.

This is how the day ended: the Cup stayed with the bitter taste of any player, with all the microphones in his favor and had not said anything about any of the real struggles or facts of a political nature which have emerged in this country. Being there at that time is when I heard an interview with Jean Beausejour wheel of Chilean Selection saying these words. "I only dimensioned now what happened a few days ago when I got a call by a teacher of cadets who said:" Hopefully, in the stadium that so many people suffered and were tortured, we may have a joy"

Disasters Third World

This time in my blog will talk about what is happening right now in northern Chile, and as the population has been affected as a result of these phenomena, in addition it is worth mentioning some reactions from the authorities. That will take a particular story that refers to the catastrophic events in the region of Atacama.
The news can be found in the following link:  http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-32114822

As seen in the news, many people have been affected by heavy rains which caused floods and large landslides, leaving many completely destroyed or in very precarious conditions households, also calling on the authorities to generate the qualification of resources the victims.
We can see how the measures to which reference were  reactionary character to contingency and which were not taken into consideration some information given from the outside, this is how the authorities have had to provide assistance to the community, help leaving much to be desired and not supplying the needs of individuals, nor does it help ensure that volunteers can attend north to assist in the reconstruction and cleanup.
These events were too pushy with the territory and its community, since in one day  fell more millimeters of water in one day than normally falls in a year. And yet the authorities having a forecast of what would happen did not generate dissemination channels for the public and failed to take preventive measures to the case, falling big decisions in the hands of inexperienced in the subject and obviously with a critical sense unserious when analyzing the facts. And then rest in the charity of particular entities.
the authority don't have any idea of the needs of people.

Bye! Think for yourself, question the authority!!!

MY HAPPY HALIDAYS

This chapter shall begin to tell what happened on my vacation this summer 2015, which is mainly divided into two main areas, which are  the Horcón Beach and the Big Island of Chiloé. In both places I was about a month, so I could rest the normal bustle of Santiago, whether with family, friends or people that I meet along the way.
The first stop on my vacation took me straight to Horcón Beach, place I went with my family (cousins, aunts and grandmother). The fun of this stop was the amount of rich dishes we could eat while also learning the craft of place to tan on the beach. However my second stop was more extensive as it lasted three weeks, weeks in which I shared at a carnival with the batucada, with my mother eating many dishes very delicius and a group of friends who came from Santiago with whom went camping to cucao, everything was perfect until I got sick and could not continue traveling towards the southern highway as planned, but despite being sick nobody separated me from the fire, stories, singing with guitar and see the stars with people I love.

I can finally say that my holiday despite not being as expected, were much better and to improvise on the road allows me to continue to discover more.
